We met Ashley Robles at tonight’s (Jan. 22) ‘American Idol‘ auditions in San Diego. The pretty 26-year-old is a single mom, with an adorable and aspiring backup dancer for a daughter, who is all of 5 and full of personality.

By day, Robles is an insurance account manager and by night, she is a DJ. We weren’t kidding about her little daughter being ambitious. She wants to be a backup dancer for mom. We know, precious!

Robles sang ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Whitney Houston and that’s a big song for a big voice. If you’re gonna go diva, you better be a diva. Just ask last season’s Pia Toscano.

So how big of a diva was petite and pretty Ashley, vocally speaking? Huge!

She tried that “And Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii will always love you” part and got a “Nice” from J. Lo. That’s because she nailed those high notes flawlessly. Steven Tyler said, “You are going to be big.”

Robles does have a leg up, though. She was previously singer to RCA Records, has worked with producers that have partnered with Christina Aguilera and was the DJ at former ‘Girl Next Door’ Kendra Wilkinson’s wedding. So Robles has buckets of experience and friends in high places. But most importantly she has the voice.

We’ve got a sneaking suspicion that given her background, pedigree and experience that she will still be hitting those high notes on the show’s final episodes in May.
