Just after noon today (9/8), an off-duty Wichita Falls Police officer spotted a wanted fugitive, 24-year-old Cody Stage, at a pawn shop in the 3900 block of Jacksboro Highway.

According to a statement by the WFPD:

Stage was wanted on 3 felony warrants for Theft, Escape, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The off-duty officer notified other officers of Stage’s whereabouts. Officers located Stage as he was leaving the Pawn Shop in a maroon vehicle. Records check confirmed that the vehicle Stage was driving was stolen.

Officers tried to affect the traffic stop on Stage but he sped away leading officers on a brief high speed chase. Stage hit a parked vehicle in the 1200 blk of 16th street and was immediately taken into custody. Investigation found Stage to be in possession of methamphetamine both in the car and on his person.
At this time, Stage is being charged with the following: Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, Multiple Traffic Offenses, and 3 Felony Warrants.

A passeenger, James Dickerson age 23, was also arrested for warrants. Two female passengers were interviewed and released at the scene.

The investigation is on-going.
