When I heard the news about Robin Williams yesterday, I was in shock. I really didn't know what to say (which is pretty impressive if you know how much I talk). Today I finally decided to voice some of those thoughts and recorded this video. I tried not to get emotional, but it's hard when you are talking about someone who was such a big part of your childhood.

As I mention in the video, Robin Williams was a major part of a lot of people my age's life. I'm 29 years old so,  I was 7 in 1991 when Hook came out, and that's my first memory of him. Through that film, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Jumanji, Robin taught us that when we become adults, we never have to let go of the joys of being a kid. We can still have imagination. We can still be silly. We can still have fun.

I'm still finding it hard to believe that this man who brought so much joy to others had so much sadness inside. It just goes to prove that no amount of money, fame, or accolades can cure depression. If you know someone who needs help, reach out to them. Lots of people mask their sadness by being funny or by acting happy. If you feel that way, know that you are not alone. It's OK to ask for help. I guess even in death, Robin Williams is teaching us one more lesson.
