A former finalist on 'American Idol' passed away Thursday night following a multi-car accident just outside of Oklahoma City.

According to TMZ, Rickey Smith was killed when a man driving the wrong way on I-240 slammed into Smith's car. The other driver was hospitalized and then, according to police, booked for a DUI. Smith was 36 years old.

Smith was seen on the second season of 'American Idol.' He made it to the Top 8 before being eliminated from the show. Ruben Studdard ended up winning the season, beating out Clay Aiken for the title.

Looking back at Rickey's performances on Idol, as eerie as it is, one of his standouts was a cover of Larry Gatlin's "I've Done Enough Dyin' Today."
