Quite the drug bust police had on their hands this week.

A DPS Trooper pulled over 32-year-old Jessie Tyrone Stafford on Hwy 281 just outside of Antelope in Jack County Tuesday (8/15) afternoon. Jessie was driving without one of his license plates, so police pulled him over for a routine traffic stop. Jessie pulled over, but this was not an easy stop.

Once an officer began searching his vehicle, Jessie jumped back in and sped off. An officer attempted to taze the suspect before he could speed off. The officer missed when Jessie slammed the door. He was able to get away for about seven minutes before getting pulled over again.

A motorist witnessed the suspect allegedly throw something from the vehicle. Police recovered the evidence and it was a couple of gallon Ziploc bags of methamphetamine. The drugs weighed in at 4.2 pounds with a street value of $368,000. Jessie was placed under arrest for multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 greater than 400 grams, a first-degree felony, and evading arrest.

He also had some other drugs in his possession in much smaller amounts. 16 grams of cocaine and some marijuana. Jessie admitted he was transporting the meth from Fort Worth to Wichita Falls.

Jessie was taken to the Jack County Jail and was arraigned Thursday afternoon. His charges and bond amounts were manufacture/delivery of controlled substance methamphetamine, $150,000; manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance cocaine, $100,000; tampering with evidence, $10,000; evading arrest in a motor vehicle, $10,000; possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces, $5,000; and resisting arrest, $10,000.

As of now, he has not bonded out and remains in jail.
