Townsquare Media, wanted to do just that.  Upon learning of the shooting on Friday, we contacted our partners at Hudson Blueprint to see if it would be possible to have a giant banner made that we could take out and let people sign and write condolences on.  The company came through, particularly Paul Groves, who volunteered to stay late on Friday and to come in on Saturday, his off day, to complete the banner.

From noon to 4:30, Townsquare Media radio stations set the banner up at Wal-Mart on Lawrence Rd. allowing anyone who wanted to sign it, and offer condolences could do just that.  Response was overwhelming. In those 4 hours, over 1,000 Texomans signed the banner.  The banner is being sent to Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut as of today.  We all hope that it can serve as a small token of hope during this very dark time for those affected by this tragedy.  God Bless Newtown and Sandy Hook Elementary.

Over the past several days, there have been thee new UFO sightings in the United States with every one of them coming from Google Maps.

Something pink and shaped in a classic UFO shape has been spotted on Google Maps street view photos in Jacksonville, Texas – Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico – and, Waterloo, South Carolina. Look, I have studied the photos and believe that what they are seeing is just a lens flare.  But, maybe that’s just what the government told me to say.  You be the judge.

Ok Cupid is one of the largest dating sites on the web.  Unfortunately it is free and there is absolutely no screening done from the site itself, which helps explain how some guys would think these pictures are going to make a woman sigh and run into their arms… er… inbox.  Enjoy.

OK, I’m out.

You know that tattoo you got back in college, the one with the Chinese lettering that you thought said “Wisdom and Love” but instead translates to “I’m A Skinny Chicken”? Well, take heart, because a 35-year-old aspiring Brazilian pop singer painted himself green to look like The Hulk as a publicity stunt. Not sure how that helps his singing career, but whatever. Only problem was, he used industrial paint.

Yep, industrial paint, the kind used on missiles and nuclear submarines.  And it wouldn’t come off his skin.  Even after more than 20 showers and baths. The paint finally started fading after about 24 hours . . . but Paulo is still considering suing the store that sold him the paint because they knew what he was planning and didn’t stop him.

Estimates show him returning to his normal color sometime in the next 4 to 6 months.  I think he should really look on the bright side, he’s going to have a ton of free time since he’s definitely not going to be working or singing for the next few months!

San Alfonso del Mar resort in Algarrobo, Chile, has the largest swimming pool in the world. It’s 3,324 ft long and has a total area of 19.8 acres . The pool holds 66 million gallons (250 million liters) of water, as much as 6,000 normal pools. Incredible!

Yep, it’s an election year, so that means a bunch of old white guys, and a few women get to sling mud all over themselves with political advertising.  Now, I usually think America is, without a doubt, the greatest country in the world, but from a guy’s perspective, Mexican elections look like a lot more fun!

34-year-old Natalia Juarez is a philosophy professor in Guadalajara, Mexico, and a member of Mexico’s Party of the Democratic Revolution.  She’s running for Congress and realized her campaign was off to a slow start.

So she decided to get some attention . . . by posing topless for billboards. (Ed. note: Yay!!!)

They feature a black-and-white photo of her and six female supporters,  all topless, and partially covering their breasts with their right arms.

Natalia says she made the billboards to give voters in Mexico a wake-up call.  She’s extremely left-wing, so she figured liberals wouldn’t have a problem with the risqué billboards, and “conservatives are never going to vote for me [anyway],” she says.

The elections are on July 1st.

The cast and crew of The Empire Strikes Back faced a daunting task – how to follow Star Wars, the blockbuster which had reinvented science fiction on the silver screen overnight and instantly become the favorite film of millions of cinema-goers.

The film actually began filming in frozen Norway for the “Hoth” scenes in the worst snow-storm in 50 years. that still didn’t stop the cast and crew from having a great time.  Neither did the massive expectations for the film after the success of “Star Wars”.  Enjoy the Pictures!

Every day, Heather sends her son off to school with a lunch that doubles as brilliant art.  It’s hard to describe but she uses food coloring, different colored produce, and food shapes to turn her son’s lunch into cartoon characters.

Keep in mind that there has been a waiting list for Masters tickets, the first major of the year for professional golfers, since the 70′s.  No joke.  There is not a single ticket available EXCEPT for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday “Practice rounds” when the pros get to practice on-site at the exclusive Georgia Country Club. However, it is almost as difficult to get these tickets as the unavailable Thursday thru Sunday tickets.  Demand far outstrips supply.  So, the good folks at Augusta National hold a yearly raffle for the practice round tickets.  Your odds are not great.

Now, back to the dog….

Russ Berkman of Seattle, Washington had tickets to see the practice round for The Masters at Augusta National today.  He had a trip planned to Georgia, he was ready to go . . . and then, a few days ago, his dog ate his tickets!!!

When Russ realized his dog, Sierra, had eaten the tickets, he came up with a plan.  A really awful but successful plan. He made Sierra vomit by giving her hydrogen peroxide, which is allegedly safe for animals, then sifted through it and somehow pieced the tickets back together!

Then he took a photo of his ticket pieces, sent them to officials at Augusta . . . and they actually issued him replacement tickets. As for the dog… Sierra is doing fine.

Oh yeah, on Saturday they had FUZZY BUNNIES too – courtesy of Alynn Terry Photography who was on site taking pictures of the kiddies, and one fat DJ on location!  Just in time for Easter!

I think somewhere between the airbrushed photos and carefully edited reality shows most of us get the impression celebrities are exempt from the everyday trails the rest of us face. Here’s a reminder that even multimillionaire celebrities live life (sort of) just like the rest of us…sometimes anyway.

Despite having millions in the bank and seemingly millions more on the way, a bank has decided not to issue a mortgage on a 7+ million dollar home for Justin Bieber. Bieber was reportedly prepared to pay for the property in cash, but his business manager insist that he take out a mortgage on the home. The bank has denied Bieber’s mortgage application, however, claiming that the home is appraised at being worth much less than the 7 million asking price. The price is now being negotiated with the seller, but reports are they aren’t wanting to budge much because of how much they have invested in the home.

The puppy here is a Dachshund mix named Beyoncé, and she’s at a rescue shelter in El Dorado County, in northern California.  When she was born, she could fit in a spoon.  Now, at two weeks, she’s the size of a business card.

Beyoncé was one of five puppies in a litter and was born without a heartbeat.  The vets were able to get her going with tiny, tiny chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth.  In a few weeks, she’ll be healthy enough to adopt.

In the meantime, the shelter has submitted an application to the people at Guinness World Records . . . because Beyoncé just might be the WORLD’S SMALLEST DOG.

The current record holder for world’s smallest dog is a Chihuahua who’s just four inches tall.  Beyoncé is currently smaller than that.

So you’re looking at photos of a Canadian model named Jenna Talackova right now.  She’s hot.  She was also born a man.  And you would NEVER know it by looking at her. The organizers of the Miss Universe Canada pageant sure didn’t know by looking at her.  Jenna was on her way to winning the Miss Vancouver pageant when they got a tip that she was born male.

They asked her, and she said yes, she was born male . . . but she’s known that, deep down, she was meant to be a woman since she was four.  She had full gender reassignment surgery at age 19, and she’s legally a woman now.

But, the rules of the pageant require every contestant to be a, quote, “naturally-born female.”  Jenna checked the box saying yes, she was a naturally-born female.  So she’s been disqualified from competing for that lie.

Ever since she was disqualified, people have been outraged and pushing the pageant to let her compete.  So far, they haven’t backed down.

“Growing up in the showbiz world, I looked up to those guys: Frank Sinatra and of course Elvis Presley.  My dad was into the 1950s doo-wop era. If you look at those groups, or at James Brown, Jackie Wilson and the Temptations in the 1960s, you’ll see you had to be sharp onstage.”

Looking at Bruno Mars’ style and stage presence, the impact that Sinatra and Presley had is obvious.  However, when asked what past musical icon he’d want to share the stage with, Mars didn’t pick either one.  Instead, Mars said he’s love to perform with a left-handed guitar genius, Jimi Hendricks,

“I think he’s the greatest guitar player in the world, and I would want to see him do his thing in person.  He’s the reason I picked up a guitar in the first place.”

Apparently, this is a real trend:    PANTYHOSE FOR MEN.

And to make it worse, the reports call them “mantyhose” or “brosiery” . . . two words that are so corny, just hearing them made me slightly nauseous.

There’s an Italian fashion company called Emilio Cavallini that’s pushing hard on this pantyhose-for-men trend.  They’ve been selling them for almost three years, but they only started catching on recently . . . and now men make up 2-to-3% of sales.

A rep said that men wear the tights under pants for warmth . . . but some of the tights with more noticeable patterns, like skulls or stars, are put on full display underneath shorts.

do I think this will catch on… No, not here in the states where wearing something like this would probably merit a good butt-kicking from someone with two first names.
