George Clooney, husband of Amal Clooney and new father to Ella and Alexander, is already worth an estimated $500 million — so why not add $1 billion on top of that?

The actor and philanthropist, who directed the upcoming Suburbicon out in November starring Matt Damon, can now add alcohol entrepreneur to his already sizable CV: his tequila business, Casamigos was just bought by British multinational beverage company Diageo, and he's about to rake in a whole lot of bucks.

As CNBC reports, the deal initially starts with a $700 million payout, with "the potential for another $300 million based on the tequila's performance over 10 years."

"If you asked us four years ago if we had a billion dollar company, I don't think we would have said yes. This reflects Diageo's belief in our company and our belief in Diageo. But we're not going anywhere. We'll still be very much a part of Casamigos. Starting with a shot tonight. Maybe two," Clooney said via email to CNBC.

The brand, launched with co-owners Rande Gerber and Michael Meldma was originally meant "just for Gerber and Clooney's friends and family" before going public four years ago. The transaction is expected to close during the second half of 2017.

"Right now, we're the fastest growing ultra-premium tequila in the country," they told CNBC in November.

Cheers to that, Clooney.
