It seems like there are so many parodies of popular music that it’s really hard to keep up with them all. One of the reasons you don’t want to is that so many of them aren’t worth watching. Every once in a while, however, you come across a parody that’s worth a share on Facebook, and this is one of them. It’s of Gotye’s “Someone That I Used to Know,” and it’s “The Star Wars That I Used to Know.” Geeks like me are rejoicing.

While watching this video, for just a moment, I wondered why Darth Vader would be lamenting about anything since he’s such a force to be reckoned with, but then I realized exactly what he’s griping about. One of the first lines refers to his history being told and how it took away his masculinity. When you look at it, it’s true. Anakin Skywalker really was a whiny character. Even as an adult he was like a 4-year-old trying to get his way.

In my humble opinion it’s not the song itself that really makes me laugh, but rather the entrance of “George Lucas” in the latter part of the video. It also follows the concept behind the original Gotye video, which is something that a lot of parodies don’t do. They make this one work. Especially when the Darth Vader mask is introduced.

What do you think? Is it a parody that works or flops?
