Gym Tells Woman Her Breasts Are Too Large for Tank Top

The staff at a gym in Ottawa had a problem with one of their member's attire and decided to confront her about it.

Rose Nickels was working out at the Movati Athletic Gym the other day and was told by employees that her breasts are "too large" for her tank top and that "only appropriate gym attire and modest clothing is to be worn." She was then told that she would need to finish her workout in a t-shirt.

Nickels said she felt humiliated by this employee's actions. She has since cancelled her membership and posted photos to Facebook of what she was wearing that day, along with photos of the "proper gym attire" shown on the gym's website.

Judging from the photos on the website, the outfits are very similar. It's just that Rose has more ample breasts. It's not like she is falling out of the top. Everything is covered and it doesn't look sexual at all.

The gym has since released a statement about the incident, basically saying some members felt uncomfortable. I understand how this woman's look could be intimidating to someone at the gym, but she is doing nothing wrong.

Here's the gym's full statement:

"At Movati Athletic, we strive daily to create an atmosphere where all our members feel welcome, feel comfortable and feel healthy. We ask members to be respectful of each other when in the gym, to include wearing modest athletic attire and appropriate shoes, limiting cell phone usage and keeping the facility clean. It is important to us that all members have a positive experience at Movati, and we take their needs and feelings very seriously. As such, on Saturday when some members of our gym voiced complaints regarding Ms. Vecchio’s attire as it made them feel uncomfortable and was seen as being contrary to our dress code policy our staff assessed the situation and spoke to Ms. Vecchio. While in no way did we intend to embarrass her, we did feel we had to address the issue. We are still looking into the matter, and would be happy to sit down and speak with Ms. Vecchio in more detail as we continue to investigate the incident."

I am at my gym every day here in Wichita Falls. I have become addicted to working out and I love it. I don't believe we have ever had a problem with the dress code at my gym. As long as you're wearing bottoms and a top, you're clear to work out.
