We have a lack of places in Wichita Falls that do "Kegs and Eggs" -- that's what we called it up North. Basically, a place that does alcohol and breakfast/brunch on Sundays.

As you may know, I am a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. Before the games, I like to go grab some food and then come back home for the kickoff. Trust me, you do not want me at your establishment watching a game. I am that dude that the cops need to be called on because he is making a scene. So I grab some food and get on home.

Here is the problem in Wichita Falls: noon Cowboys games. I just need a place that opens by 10 am, and ever since Fuzzy's Taco Shop closed down, Highlander Public House downtown on Scott and 8th is the only place in the city, as far as I know, that opens that early serving breakfast and beer. So I decided to give their brunch a try and see if it's any good.

First off, Highlander definitely opens early enough to make a noon Cowboy's game -- 9 am on Sundays. Second thing, alcohol. You betcha. Highlander has Bloody Marys, mimosas, and beer available. I went with a Wichita Falls Brewery beer, don't remember which one because I went with the bartender's recommendation. It was really good.

To follow TABC regulations before noon on Sunday, I had to have some food in front of me before I get my beer. Ordered a biscuit and we were good to go. By the way, super big biscuits over there at Highlander. I was not expecting that at all.

Next up, the actual entree. I ordered the Belgian waffle, with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. I didn't know my waffle was going to be shaped like Texas, so that was a surprise when it came out. Everything was delicious, but the potatoes may have been my favorite part. Wanted to order another side of those.

This will be my Sunday place now. If anybody knows of any other restaurants in our city that do a Sunday breakfast with alcohol, let me know. I am always willing to try new places in Wichita Falls.
