Over the weekend, Jay-Z paid tribute to Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington two nights in a row at England’s V Festival. The final song of Jay-Z’s set both nights was his “Numb / Encore” collaboration with Linkin Park, as he dedicated the track to Bennington.

Jay-Z’s sets in Stafford and Chelmsford were the rapper’s first performances since Chester Bennington took his life the morning of July 20. Jay-Z only played seven songs both nights, but he made sure to finish each set with “Numb / Encore” from his 2004 Collision Course collaborative album with Linkin Park.

“Can you guys light it up tonight for Chester?” Jay-Z asked the audience on Aug. 19. “Please make some noise so he can hear you all the way in heaven tonight!” The festival crowd gave a great reaction to the performance, getting really loud when singing along with Bennington’s parts.

“I remember when I first discovered Linkin Park,” Jay-Z said during a 2004 interview about Collision Course. “I remember hearing [Mike Shinoda’s] voice and how he was inside the track and I was like, ‘That guy has to be influenced by Rakim.’ Then hearing Chester’s voice and how amplifies his voice and saying, ‘This dude is really special.’” Collision Course would go on to sell over 2 million copies in the U.S. alone, also going gold, platinum or multiplatinum in 11 other countries.
