Early this week Mark Cuban came out and said that in 2007  he was hours away from finalizing a contract between the Lakers and the Mavericks that would send Kobe Bryant to Dallas Mavericks.Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was on a local Dallas sports morning show talking about the off season. The host's were getting on him about this off season and how he didn't really have that great of free agents coming into Dallas. Then Mark said that in 2007 we nearly had Kobe Bryant.

"When I was doing 'Dancing with the Stars,' I was taking breaks because I was talking to Kobe’s agent because Kobe wanted to get traded," Cuban said during Tuesday's appearance on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM's Ben & Skin Show. "Literally, in between 'Dancing with the Stars' practices I thought we had traded at one time for Kobe Bryant. I even talked to their owner [Jerry Buss], I thought we were going to have a done deal and then [Lakers general manager] Mitch Kupchak changed [Kobe’s] mind and brought him back."

No matter how you feel about this off season about Mark Cuban, if he would have gotten Kobe Bryant Mark Cuban could do whatever he wanted in the off season until Kobe retired. In many peoples opinions, since Jordan left the NBA, Kobe Bryant has been the best player in the league.

The trade would not have involved Dirk Nowitzki which would have upset many Maverick fans. Just imagine the possibilities with those two working together on the court. Sounds like many NBA championships in Dallas to me.
