20-year-old college student Galia Slayen has constructed a life-sized Barbie doll as a representation of negative body image. The remodeled doll stands 6 feet tall with a 39″ bust, 18″ waist and 33″ hips. Slaven built the Barbie for Hamilton College’s National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. Slaven suffered from Anorexia for a year, and though she doesn’t directly blame Barbie for her battles, she admits playing with the doll left an impression.

“I’m blond and blue-eyed and I figured that was what I was supposed to look like. She was my idol. It impacted the way I looked at myself.”
