Before her new album is released, Madonna may be hooking up with Kylie Minogue for a superstar collaboration in the coming months.

According to the Mirror, “plans are afoot for a big ITV special celebrating [Kylie's] career.” The paper’s Dean Piper says a source has confirmed that “‘there will be lots of duets. The plan so far is for a duet with her sister Dannii, Nick Cave, Jason Donovan and a finale featuring a duet with Madonna.’”

Should this meeting of the voices happen, we expect Minogue to be nothing less than thrilled. “I’m a massive Madonna fan, absolutely,” Minogue said. “I’ve only met her briefly. We have some friends in common and a message will go back and forth. ‘She says hi,’ or ‘I say hi.’ But, obviously how can you not love Madonna?”

Minogue is no stranger to duets. She has recorded songs with Robbie Williams (‘Kids’), Nick Cave (‘Where The Wild Roses Grow’), Hurts (‘Devotion’) and Jason Donovan (‘Especially For You’). If the Madge collabo goes down, it will arguably be the Australian star’s biggest duet to date.

Madonna could also use the distraction. Her forthcoming LP has been subject to plenty of conjecture, as well as multiple leaks. In fact, a dubious track listing for the as-yet-untitled album even hit the web in late December. It has since been taken down.

Will we see the two mega pop stars team up for a duet this year? We’ll just have to wait and see.
