Mayor Glenn Barham Hints That Wichita Falls Chick-Fil-A Is “In The Works” [Audio]

It's almost a running joke here in Wichita Falls.  No Chick-Fil-A.  It's the one dining establishment that is mentioned again and again as sorely missing in the Falls.  Why isn't there one here?  I mean Lawton has one, and it's a smaller town! To add insult to injury, they also have an Outback Steakhouse. What is wrong with the Falls?  Yesterday on the 929 NIN afternoon show I called mayor Barham to find out...

Here's how the conversation got started.  I was talking on air with Intern Eric about the new restaurant opening up on Southwest Parkway next to the Blue Cross/Blue Shield building.  We both thought it may be a Chick-Fil-A.  Well, immediately the studio lines blew up with informed listeners letting us know that no, it is not a Chick-Fil-A, but rather, a Chicken Express.  Obviously, both Eric and I were disappointed.

So, instead of wallowing in our misery, we called the office of Mayor Glenn Barham.  He wasn't in, but amazingly, his secretary gave us his cell phone number and we reached him that way.  You can listen to the interview below and then determine for yourself whether or not we'll ever see a Chick-Fil-A here in the Falls.  I'm not holding my breath.
