Mexico City Lawmakers Propose Temporary Marriage Licenses

With so many marriages ending in divorce, and ugly divorces at that, some lawmakers are looking at creative ways to ease those legal battles. In Mexico City, officials have proposed a two-year marriage license, allowing the couple to be wed for two years, and when that time is up they can renew the license or simply go their separate ways if things aren’t working out.

Maybe you’re asking, “But what about the kids or the car?” This license is complete with provisions that state how things would be split in the event of the couple splitting.

Would you get a two year license? I can see this creating problems because as a woman, I’d wonder why he wanted a two year license rather than going all in. Yeah, that would probably be an argument in my household.
