If you're one of the many people who heard 'We Can't Stop' by Miley Cyrus and thought to yourself, "This sounds like a track Rihanna could rock," you're not alone -- and you're right. The songwriting team behind Cyrus' comeback single came out and admitted that the song was actually written for the Bajan beauty.

Pop songwriting duo Rock City (comprised of Timothy and Teron Thomas) were the same gents responsible for Rihanna's 'Pour It Up,' which they say they wrote within 10 minutes.

"We knew it was going to be big because it was very original," Timothy told Vibe. "For Rihanna to do a record that sounds so ratchet, being a huge pop star, it was going to change the game. Superstars are the ones that set the tone of what the music is then what happens is the game shifts and now everybody makes records like that. Everybody wants a record like that."

Including Ms. Cyrus!

"We originally wrote ['We Can't Stop'] for Rihanna and we wound up giving it to Miley," Timothy confessed. Why did the former Disney starlet get Rih's sloppy seconds? Because RiRi simply didn't need the song at that time. "We felt like this could be somebody's first single. We knew it wasn't going to be Rihanna's because at the time she already had 'Diamonds,'" Timothy explained. "We didn't know who to give it to and Mike WILL [Made It] was like, 'I'm in [the studio] with Miley. I want to play it for her because I think this will be dope for her.'"

And there you have it: the dope history of 'We Can't Stop.' Somehow if Rihanna sang it, we think "dancing with molly" would actually be a lyric in the song.
