Looking around social media this morning I noticed that a few of my friends were sharing a link to a story that sounded way too crazy to be true. Lady Gaga was “tired of the L.A. lifestyle” and looking for a change in her life. She wanted to live "in a place full of real, genuine people." Lady Gaga was moving to Wichita Falls, TX.

Now, it seemed pretty far fetched, but maybe it could be true. She is known to buck the norms of celebrity life sometimes. She wears dresses made out of meat. She's spent time outside of Hollywood with her boyfriend in Nebraska. Still, it just seemed a bit too fishy to think this could be real.

After looking at the website the story was from, it was pretty obvious that the story was false. There were a few telltale signs that my gullible Facebook friends had obviously ignored. First of all, the story was posted from WMACNews.com which says it's 'Your Local News Network.' Notice it doesn't say a city, just local. That's a pretty big giveaway right there. Also, there's no news stations in the area called WMAC.

If that wasn't enough, the 'About' page at WMACNews is pretty blatant about the fact that it's a satire site.

So, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but no, Lady Gaga is not moving to Wichita Falls. At least not now. But hey, keep your fingers crossed. Maybe this will make her see the place, love the idea of recycled water, and decide it actually was a good idea. In the meantime, don't believe everything you read on the internet.
