Kevin Coster may be playing Pa Kent, Superman's adoptive father, but we now know who will be Kal-El's biological father Jor-El, Academy Award winner Russell Crowe.  Crowe is the latest big name actor to join the cast of "The Man of Steel", the upcoming Chrisopher Nolan produced and Zack Snyder directed Superman film.  Already cast are Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Coster and Diane Lane and Jonathan and Martha Kent, and Michael Shannon as General Zod.  Seems that Superman himself, British actor Henry Cavill is the least known actor currently cast.

Crowe reportedly beat out Clive Owen and Sean Penn to claim the role last played on screen by the late Marlon Brando and voiced by Terance Stamp in "Smallville."  Production on "The Man of Steel" is set to begin next month, with the last major role of Jor-El's wife Lara yet to be cast.  Rumors are Nolan and Snyder also want a big name for that role as well.
