Selena Gomez is celebrating more than the new addition to her family. The 19-year-old is getting ready to start filming her new movie, ‘Spring Breakers,’ next year.

According to MTV, the flick will be directed by Harmony Korine, who helmed the 1995 drama ‘Kids.’ The movie will follow a group of college girls who rob a restaurant in order to go on their spring break trip. The ladies then wind up getting involved with a drug and arms dealer, who bails them out of jail.

“It’s a different character than I have ever played before,” she said. “It’s a different kind of vibe I think than people are used to seeing me in. What you’re going to see is more raw, I think. It’s going to be raw and more about acting.”

To date, Gomez has starred in a variety of tween- and teen-friendly movies, including her most recent flick, ‘Monte Carlo,’ which also starred Katie Cassidy and Leighton Meester. ‘Spring Breakers’ will find the pop singer sharing the screen with James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts.

In a VEVO interview, Gomez said that she eventually sees herself slowing her career down and focusing on acting, which she says is her “passion.” ‘Spring Breakers’ does not yet have a release date.
