How much food could you buy with just $5? Well here in the states that might buy you a hamburger and some fries or maybe eight and a half pounds of bananas. But what if you took that same exact $5 to Ethiopia? Would you be surprised to learn that you could buy 25 pounds of bananas for the same price?

It’s that time of year again when we apologize to our pancreas and then eat until we're sick -- Halloween candy season! Everywhere we turn, we’re bombarded with chocolate and gummies and sour things and those peanut butter taffies in the wax paper wrapping that no one ever eats. Somehow those things have survived the ages but our favorites have gone by the wayside. It’s bittersweet heaven on earth.
May 10, 2012 Yesterday I came home and found my youngest daughter sitting on the kitchen floor eating crackers. If they fell on the floor, she didn’t care, she was just munching away on her snack. Now, I know I have picked stuff off the floor and eaten it, but something about seeing her just chomping away and not even checking for hairs or dirt, made me question the validity of the Five Second Rule.
