The Apocalypse Has Been Re-scheduled!

 When I heard the world was supposed to end on May 21st, I didn't pay much attention to it. It wasn't the first prediction of the event, or the second, or the twentieth. Nor is it the last.

A lot of people really got wrapped up in the idea that the world was ending. Some were serious where others were simply using it as conversation fodder or an excuse to do something stupid. Hey, the world is going to end... let's rob a monkey!

Well Harold Camping, the voice behind the Rapture, is now saying that he miscalculated and the actual date is October 21st.

During a sometimes rambling, 90-minute discourse that included a question-and-answer session with reporters, Camping said he felt bad that Saturday had come and gone without the Rapture he had felt so certain would take place. Reflecting on scripture afterward, Camping said it "dawned" on him that a "merciful and compassionate God" would spare humanity from "hell on Earth for five months" by compressing the physical apocalypse into a shorter time frame.

But he insisted that October 21 has always been the end-point of his own End Times chronology, or at least, his latest chronology.

I think "his latest chronology" is key in that statement. Camping predicted the world would end in 1994, and clearly we're all still here. Unless, of course, it's all part of the Matrix.

My question to you is this: If it was indeed going to be the end of the world, and if you knew for certainty that Camping was correct this go-round, how would you celebrate or prepare? Would you have wild parties, spend all of your life savings, or just watch re-runs of How I Met Your Mother? I'm thinking the latter of those options.

Or, I could watch zombie movies...
