The Annual City Lights Parade and 5K is coming to downtown Wichita Falls this month. The event takes place on November 23, 2013 in the historic downtown district. The event starts at 4:00pm with train rides, a petting zoo, pony merry-go-round, bounce houses, and Santa. Participating merchants will also be open late that evening until 8:00pm for holiday shopping. You’re encouraged to wear holiday attire, including that ugly Christmas sweater you’ve been dying to get out of the closet, and join the community in celebrating the holiday.

Events kick off at the Farmers’ Market on 8th and Ohio, and Park Central on 8th and Scott.

There will be a 5K run/walk starting at 4:00pm at the Hotter N’ Hell Clubhouse. Those participants will travel the parade course, taking in the sights and sounds of the holiday season.

The parade is the highlight of the event, kicking off at 7:00pm. Around 1,500 people took part in the parade last year. You’ll get to see lighted cars, creative floats, and holiday cheer throughout the event.

The event is put on by Downtown Wichita Falls Development as a gift to the city to say thanks for support throughout the year and to remind people how wonderful our downtown is.
