In an unfortunate turn in an already tense family situation, wrestler Phillip Brooks, better known by his ring name “CM Punk”, has filed a restraining order against his estranged mother, saying she constantly demands money and threatens suicide if he doesn’t submit to her demands.

In legal documents filed in Illinois, Brooks is seeking the restraining order "due to repeated financial demands and years of abusive, harassing and threatening behavior."  According to Brooks, he’s made strides to help his mother, whom he says suffers from bi-polar disorder, by giving her in excess of $100,000, but her threats and abusive behavior increased when he stopped giving her money.  Brooks’ mother then allegedly started sending threatening emails to him saying,

"You don't give a s**t about us. You just care about your money and money hungry/fame hungry friends. You would sell us for a nickel."

According to Brooks’ documents, his mother threatened to commit suicide four times in 2012, and has threatened to release potentially embarrassing information about Brooks’ past, which Brooks’ has suggested pertains to arrests when he was in high school.

Brooks’ obtained a temporary restraining order two weeks ago, but he is expected to be back in court today to ask for a full restraining order lasting several years.  Brooks' request for the restraining order says,

"I wish for the harassment to stop and am requesting the assistance of the court in this regards."

This isn’t the first time Brooks has had problems with his family.  In the mid-late 90s, Brooks, his brother Mike, and several friends began a backyard wrestling organization called the “Lunatic Wrestling Federation”.  After the organization gained popularity and started doing warehouse shows, it was discovered that Mike had embezzled thousands of dollars from the organization.  According to Brooks, he and his brother have not spoken in 10 years.
