Accident on US 287 Results in One Fatality

The Department of Public Safety is investigating an accident on US 287 Monday night that claimed the life of an Amarillo woman.

According to a press release from DPS Media Communications Officer Dan Buesing, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of US 287 near the Harrold, Texas truck stop. A 2012 Jeep Wrangler driven by Joseph Stout of Vernon ran into the back of a 2014 Nissan driven by Donna Guinn of Amarillo.

Guinn was pronounced dead at the scene. A 16-year-old male passenger in the Nissan was transported to United Regional in Wichita Falls with non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and released. The crash remains under investigation.
