Well, this looks creepy as heck.

This would be Antlers, the upcoming film from director Scott Cooper and producer Guillermo del Toro. Cooper is more known for dramas and crime films like Crazy Heart and Black Mass, but del Toro obviously knows a thing or two about horror;. This film follows all kinds of supernatural shenanigans in a small town, much of it involving a very creepy young boy (played by Jeremy T. Thomas).

Here’s the film’s atmospheric teaser:

And here’s the film’s official synopsis:

In ANTLERS, a small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, discover that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) is harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.

Again, this is way outside of Scott Cooper’s comfort zone, but it does look like it has some major potential. (I just watched the del Toro produced Scary Stories to Read in the Dark, and the results there were outstanding.) Plus, it’s great to see Keri Russell and Jesse Plemons getting some lead roles to sink their teeth into. Antlers will open in theaters in 2020.
