Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, on behalf of the pop star's conservatorship, is suing the creator of a popular fan blog for defamation.

TMZ reports that Jamie is suing the creator of the well-known fansite AbsoluteBritney.com for defamation. Britney Spears fan Anthony Elia created and runs the blog and social media accounts for the website that famously created the "Free Britney" movement.

In the lawsuit, Jamie claims that Elia defamed Britney, himself and her team by manipulating content to fit their narrative that she needs help and is not in control of her own life. Celebrity lawyer Larry Stein, who has worked with the Spears family previously, will be acting as their lawyer.

Through his popular fansite, Elia suggested to fans that Jamie is "using [Britney's] social media in a way to negatively portray her and do her harm." In the lawsuit, what unnerved Jamie the most was the fact that Elia made his claims out of a "gut feeling."

According to TMZ's sources, the online rumor mill has become so bad that death threats have been made to everyone involved in Britney's conservatorship.
