Today has been a record-breaking day, and it's not even over yet.

They say that March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, but that might actually be the case for June in 2023. This week, temperatures have been sky-high with every day in the high 80's.

What was the old record high temperature for June 2nd?

It's hard to remember a time when it's been this warm in the beginning of June. According to Weather Underground, the average daily temperature on June 2 is around 73 degrees. The record high temp was 87 degrees, but that has been shattered today.

June 2, 2023, has set the new record temp for this day

Just after 12:20 pm, according to News 4 meteorologist Mike Doyle, the temperature broke that 87-degree mark.

As I write this article, the temperature is showing 95 degrees. There's no guarantee that that will be the official temperature, but if it is, it will mean that we have shattered our record temperature for this date.

Has Buffalo ever hit 100 degrees?

It may seem crazy to hear, but Buffalo has never officially hit 100 degrees for the amount of time that they have been recording temperatures. While we may have gotten close or had a heat index (or a real feel) of 100, the official temperature has never been that high.

Expect a cool down this weekend

These temperatures are not expected to stick with us for very much longer. As a matter of fact, the new forecast says that it will cool off by about 20 degrees over night. The high for tomorrow is 76 degrees. While that's still perfectly pleasant weather, it could feel a little chilly after what we've had this week.

The Farmer's Almanac is calling for a soggy June too. So that rain that we are desperately waiting for could be coming a little later this week.
