
Car Crash on Lloyd Ruby Overpass Leaves One Dead
Wichita Falls Police responded to a fatal car accident on the Lloyd Ruby Overpass this afternoon.
Just after 3:20 pm, officers were called to 1100 block of US 287 over Broad Street. According to Officer Jeff Hughes, a white Chevy S 10 pickup was stalled in the center lane. A silver Chevy Cavalier was stopped behind the pickup. The Cavalier was struck from behind by an 18 wheeler, causing it to strike the pickup.
The driver of the S 10 was out of the vehicle and not involved in the crash. The driver of the Cavalier, 70 year-old Roberta Gidney of Vernon, was killed. Her husband was the driver of the S 10 and had exited his vehicle to direct traffic until police could arrive.
