UPDATE:

In a statement to XXL, the NYPD denies that they had any role in having Cardi B's friend's back-to-school giveaway shut down.

"The NYPD was not aware of this event and had no involvement in the event being canceled," the department says. "The NYPD will assist to ensure the success of the event."

ORIGINAL STORY:

Cardi B is not happy with the New York Police Department.

On Tuesday (Aug. 20), the Bronx rapper used an Instagram Live session to go off on the NYPD for what she thinks was their role in disrupting her friend Star Brim's back-to-school event. The giveaway event was scheduled to go down on Aug. 27 in Brooklyn but, according to Bardi, the NYPD scared the school's principal out of putting it on.

"So my homegirl Star she was having a school giveaway in Brooklyn on the 27th but unfortunately it got shut down because the NYPD called the school principal of the location they was having the giveaway, and practically scared off the principal and now the shit got shut down," Cardi said. "I just find that shit so fucked up. And fuck you and muthafuckin' suck a fart and suffocate on it. Fuck you!"

For the unfamiliar, Star Brim and Cardi, who's currently doing shows around the country, became friends while they worked together as strippers in New York City. After Brim spent six months behind bars for wired fraud charges, Cardi B couldn't hold back her excitement once she was released. Brim isn't the only friend that Cardi has defended. Recently, she slammed haters for berating Yung Miami after her car was shot at in Miami earlier this month.

XXL has reached out to the New York Police Department to comment on Cardi B's claims. For now, watch what Bardi has to say below.
