2024: The Rise of the Cicadas!
Cicadas live most of their life underground. They spend most of their time chewing through the earth for decades until it's time for them to rise out of the ground to breed. Most years, only one brood of cicadas emerge, but in 2024, two broods will raise themselves out the dirt.
One of the broods will come up in the upper midwest, while the second will rise across most of the southern parts of the nation, which includes parts of Texas and Oklahoma. These broods will probably double the normal population of cicadas in areas of the nation that are used to them.
