Several months ago, we got the first trailer for "Green Lantern"

I loved the trailer, but many criticized the special effects saying there wasn't much by way of effects and they weren't up to par for a DC Comics film.  Less than a month ago, Warner Brothers released a special 4 minute trailer of footage from Wonder Con re-edited together.

Luckily, this trailer was better received by the fans, burt Warner Bros. isn't taking any chances.  As "Green Lantern" is the ony DC film coming out this year, and Marvel has two films this summer, Warner Bros. can't afford to delay the release date.  To make sure the film makes its June release with acceptable effects, $9 million has been added to the budget of the film just for visual effects alone.  But this isn't a sign of problems.   WB Executive VP Chris de Faria said,

"There is no problem on Green Lantern ... We try to add things to make the movie better until the 11th hour. That doesn't mean we're risking the movie up to the 11th hour."
I'm still optimistic.  A lot of films rely too much on special effects (cough cough Star Wars cough cough), but this is a movie that needs it.  Just look at the movie posters below.  The effects look terrific.  Maybe they can use some of the $9 million in effects to replace Blake Lively.
