You remember how Gwyneth Paltrow turned her nose up at the 2013 Met Gala?

Turns out she had other guests holding theirs. She thought the party stunk, but apparently it was all her -- literally.

A source who stood a little too close to Paltrow at the fete revealed to The National Enquirer, "Poor Gwyneth looked picture-perfect, but it must have been the hot lights that caused her to be a little strong on the nose."

"It was pretty pungent, and I don’t think she had a clue. I saw at least two people wave their hands in front of their noses after passing her."

A Paltrow pal insists that she usually doesn't smell bad, but that the hot lights likely made her sweat more than usual ... and that Paltrow wasn't using the most scientifically proven ingredients to fight that, though her reasoning wasn't bad.

"Gwyneth has heard that aluminum is supposedly carcinogenic, and that putting an aluminum-based deodorant directly on those sensitive armpit glands can increase the chances of breast cancer," the bud said.

Here's the problem with non-aluminum deodorants: They don't work as well.

The friend continued, "If she’s trying out new deodorants, she’s bound to fail with some of them. But Gwyneth tells pals she’d rather be smelly than dead."

Fair enough. Especially since she's basically European now.
