It's common occurrence for artists these days to sample music from songs that are from  older generations. Trouble is, you never really know if it's happening and most people don't just freely share that information up front. Unless you are some musical wizard that knows every song the world has to offer, you sometimes just have to assume that what you are hearing is the first time it's ever been created.

Step in, Michael Tan. Michael has put together a fascinating sequence of songs that are (or were) very popular and enlightens us to the the original track from which it came. First song up, Jason Derulo's 'Talk Dirty To Me'. The oh so recognizable trumpet and bass line you hear from this song is actually the from song 'Hermetico' by Balkan Beat Box released in 2007. Talk about mind blown.

I understand the sampling of music happens quite frequently but I just wish that the artists would reveal that when they release the songs to the public. I guess I underestimated the sneakiness. Thanks to Michael Tan for making 12 Hit Songs and Their Original Samples Part 2 (you can view Part 1 here) and for being the awesome music wizard that you are.
