Exploring Urban Art in Texas Cities: Austin
Cities across Texas are filled with beautiful murals. Let’s take a look at Austin’s urban art.
I typically travel to Austin at least once a year, and it seems like every time I go there, I come across a mural I’ve never seen before. After discovering Visit Austin’s list of the best murals in the city, I realized I hadn’t even come close to seeing them all.
Even though I’m someone who appreciates art, I often find myself bored within a few minutes of visiting an art gallery. I don’t know why, but as the old saying goes – it is what it is.
But there’s something about murals that captivates me.
I don’t know what it is about them, but I’ll always take a minute to marvel at them. In fact, I usually break out the smartphone and snap a picture when I come across one.
For one thing, I really admire the creativity that goes into most murals I’ve seen. So many of them are just kind of random as you’ll see in the gallery below.
Seriously, who thought of painting an astronaut in outer space with a piece of pizza floating next to them? The answer is Mike “Truth” Johnson. His brilliant, creative mind is behind much of the street art in our state capital.
Since you’re reading this, I assume you’re as fascinated by street art as I am. In that case, feast your eyes to some of the best urban art Austin has to offer.
