If you visit Six Flags Over Texas this week, the Texas Giant has a new name.

Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags New England Made a Bet

Well it's been over a month since we reported the news that two Six Flags locations placed a bet with each other. Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags New England placed a friendly wager. Whichever city's NBA team won in the Finals. A ride at the other's park had to change names to honor the other city. As we know, the Dallas Mavericks lost in the NBA Finals so Six Flags Over Texas had to pay up on the bet.

Goodbye Texas Giant, Hello Boston Giant

If you visit Six Flags Over Texas this week. A Celtic green font lettered banner is hanging over the Texas portion of the Texas Giant sign making it now say Boston Giant. Six Flags Over Texas also has to give anyone with a valid Massachusetts ID free entry into the park until July 24th. Not sure, how many Bostonians will make the trip to North Texas to take advantage of this, but free is free.

Here Is What Else Is Happening with the Bet

  • A Traditional Celtic band will follow Six Flags Over Texas Park President, Richard Douaihy, around for an entire day.
  • Six Flags Over Texas will send Six Flags New England Texan favorites, including Chicken Fried Steak, Texas Chili, and Tex-Mex.
  • Six Flags Over Texas will serve Boston cream pies to the first 100 guests entering the park. Date TBD at conclusion of NBA finals.

^I am unable to find anything about the other parameters of the bet being paid off, other than the Celtic Band following President Richard Douaihy around. I found a Facebook reel for Six Flags New England account that had that happening on July 6th. Folks actually seemed to enjoy the Celtic band.
