Looks like many politicians in the state would like to see this happen.

It has been almost a week since the assassination of Charlie Kirk at a college campus in Utah. Every day, more and more information is coming out about the person that did this horrific crime. Throughout the country, many have come together to honor Charlie Kirk in their own way. Many have had prayer vigils over the past week and it looks like Oklahoma wants to take it a step further.

Oklahoma GOP Passes Resolution for Charlie Kirk Day

Charity Linch, chairwoman of the Oklahoma Republican Party said, 'He stood for freedom, and his death sparked something not just in our nation, but our world. We feel like his death should be commemorated and is no different than Martin Luther King, or any other civil rights activist.'

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is held around the date of his birthday, which is January 19th. The federal holiday is always the third Monday of January, which can be between the 15th and 21st. Charlie Kirk Day in Oklahoma if this were to pass would happen on the day of his death September 10th, rather than his birthday of October 14th.

Charlie Kirk's Connection to Oklahoma

Charlie Kirk was actually just in Stillwater, Oklahoma in April of this year. He was doing the same thing he did at college campuses across the country. Engaging in an open dialogue with college students on just about everything. You can watch that video above if you're interested.

We will wait and see if the Oklahoma Senate makes September 10th, Charlie Kirk Day in Oklahoma.
