Any Wichita Falls, Texas Businesses Selling Their Redbox Kiosks?
Here is something I am still shocked to see around town in 2025. What is going to happen to these things?
Redbox Officially Went Bankrupt Last Summer, Why Do We Still Have Kiosks?
Sadly it was the end of an era last year. In the summer of 2024, Redbox announced they were filing for bankruptcy. Which has left 24,000 of those red kiosks throughout America. I really thought businesses would get these things off their property because they're taking up space and also electricity.
Redbox Locations in Wichita Falls
According to Google, Red Box still has twelve kiosks in Wichita Falls. Spread throughout Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and a few gas stations as well. Some of these locations are marked as temporarily closed. I think it's safe to say we can make those permanently closed because if they're turned off. Not sure who is going to turn it back on.
Folks Are Buying the Kiosks from Stores
Apparently some of the locations for the kiosks throughout the country are selling them to people just to get them off the property. One of the problems with buying one of these things. They're extremely heavy and in some instances they were actually concreted into place making moving them without equipment almost impossible. Apparently the going rate to buy one is $500, but some folks are saying they're getting them for free just to get them off the property.
Red Box Movies for Free?
Some on the internet are saying Redbox is not charging you if you rent a movie right now since their servers no longer exist. PLEASE REMEMBER THE INTERNET IS SAYING THIS NOT ME. Kinda curious if any of those kiosks around town still have something I would want to own because I damn sure wouldn't be returning it back.
