Who else is looking forward to even more spring football?

The way I see it, the more football the better. There is no such thing as football fatigue for this ol’ boy.

I was really digging watching the Dallas Renegades during the XFL’s return in March of 2020. It felt to me like the league had a lot of positive momentum before it suspended play during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The league was unable to recover and owner Vince McMahon ultimately filed for bankruptcy.

And then one of McMahon’s wrestling colleagues swooped in and saved the day. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his business partner and ex-wife Dani Garcia bought the league for $15 million in August of 2020. The league is scheduled to return in February 2023.

Earlier today, the league announced the eight teams that would make up the league in the 2023 season. Some were rebranded and some were moved to different cities.

Dallas was one of the teams that were rebranded. The team maintains the original colors, but the logo was changed from the masked cowboy to just the letter “R.” The team was also renamed the Arlington Renegades to reflect the city the team plays in (not to mention Arlington is where the league office is located).

I can understand the change to Arlington, but I’m not too excited about the logo. I thought the old one was cool.

No to mention, the “R” looks like it was designed to be a “DR.” My guess is that it was changed due to the mayor of Dallas, Eric Johnson, saying that Dallas would no longer allow teams to use Dallas in their moniker if they don’t actually play in Dallas while he was beating the drum of bringing a second NFL to the city.

Whatever the case may be, I’m just glad we’ll have spring football in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Only focusing on the big four and I know my choices will piss A LOT of people off. I like weird s*** and I think my taste in jerseys will show this.
