Wichita Falls, Texas Dad Wins Parent of the Week Award from Texas Magazine
Congratulations to a local Wichita Falls dad that was recognized by a huge name in Texas sports.
Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine
For decades, Texans have been picking up an issue of this magazine every summer to prep for the upcoming football season. Sadly Dave Campbell passed away in 2021, but the magazine lives on in his name. It covers football in Texas from the Cowboys and the Texans, all the way to our many high schools across the state.
Dave Campbell's Parent of the Week Award
Obviously a big deal with the magazine is highlighting the players and their accomplishments. However, a weekly award is given out to a parent in the Texas high school football community every ten weeks on the Dave Campbell website. This is to celebrate influential parents for their behind-the-scenes work to rally support for their football programs. Looks like a parent right here in Wichita Falls was a lucky winner over the weekend.
Gary Ohmstede is Your Parent of the Week!
Congratulations to Wichita Falls own Gary Ohmstede who got a $500 donation to the Memorial Mavericks over the weekend. Gary shared the announcement on his Facebook page and also credited the other parent in the household, Angie Ohmstede
Angie, you can be the Townsquare Media parent of the week award winner (please note this does not come with a $500 check since I just made up this award in the past five minutes). Also looks like Gary and Angie are not the only ones that got recognized this week with awards. Their son Cross was shown some love too by the Memorial Mavericks football program.
Ohmstedes Keep the Awards Rolling In
In case you're a football novice, the Hog award goes to the best offensive lineman. Cross Ohmstede got that award for his play over the weekend. The Memorial Mavericks did win their first game on Friday night, defeating the Wyatt Chaparrals 47-20. So shout out to everyone in Ohmstede family, keep doing what you're doing!
