Three years after CMT aired the last episode of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team, Netflix is releasing America's Sweethearts — an in-depth documentary series following the squad — on June 20. Similar to its counterpart, the new series will follow DCC hopefuls as they chase their dreams of becoming a cheerleader for America's team.

And fans are all too excited for the premiere!

"Used to watch DCC: Making the Team all the time!! Can’t wait for this," one writes on social media.

Another chimes in with, "Oh my gosh sooooo excited for this. I used to watch the show all the time as a kid."

"All of the work they do and the strain they put their bodies through…it’s not just pretty faces," an additional user writes. "Those girls and all pro dancers go through what athletes do. It’s grueling, tough & requires thick skin. I can’t wait to watch this. Love my team and the DCC!"

What Is America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders About?

Netflix will take fans behind the scenes of the audition process. Viewers will meet the staff — Director Kelli Finglass and Choreographer Judy Trammell — various squad members and those who are hoping to make the team. The series will also follow the squad through a grueling training camp and a full NFL season.

America's Sweethearts promises to be "the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders like you've never seen them before." The series will show the trials and triumphs of the team. While they may make things look effortless on the field, there's a lot of blood, sweat and tears that go into the preparation process. A trailer for the upcoming series was released in May.

Dolly Parton Performed in the Iconic Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Uniform

During her halftime performance at the Dallas Cowboys annual Thanksgiving Day game in 2023, Dolly Parton donned the iconic navy, silver and white uniform. The country veteran asked the crowd if they liked her outfit before diving into a medley of her biggest hits. It was a move that she kept all to herself — not even her team knew about her outfit choice.

"When she came out of the dressing room, myself, the security, and my staff fainted. That's the genius of Dolly, and people are talking about it," her manager told Billboard at the time. "I couldn’t tell the difference between Dolly and the cheerleaders."

It's unlikely Parton will make a cameo in the new Netflix series, but one country artist is semi-involved in the project. Miranda Lambert lent one of her songs to the project. "If I Was a Cowboy" can be heard playing in the show's trailer — which she shared on social media.
