Celebs React to Presidential Debate, of Which Ken Bone Is True Star
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton faced off in a second presidential debate last night (October 9), days after Trump faced controversy for disturbing, sexist remarks recorded during a 2005 conversation with Billy Bush. For Trump's staunchest supporters, neither the recording nor Trump's debate performance — which found him oddly following Clinton around the set as she addressed voters' questions in the town hall-style format — would likely sway them from their chosen candidate. And while sites including the L.A. Times and The Hill declare Clinton last night's winner through nonpartisan polls and weighed responses, the internet has declared a true winner: Uncommitted Voter Kenneth Bone.
With his smart red cardigan and perfectly legitimate question about the environment vs. economic concerns ("What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimizing job layoffs?"), Ken became instantly meme-worthy. Due, in no small part, to the fact that he's got the name of a grizzled Wild West bounty hunter. Ken Bone. Naturally, at least one parody Twitter account was born.
In a grueling election cycle which somehow still has long four weeks left to go, can you blame the internet for claiming the everyman hero we need right now? Of the countless memes that arose from Bone's iconic appearance, this fake 30 for 30 documentary might be the very best.
