Madonna Premiers Video For ‘Give Me All Your Luvin” Feat. Nicki Minaj, M.I.A.
Madonna has collaborated with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A for her highly anticipated video for ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’, which premiered last night during 'American Idol'. The video opens with text on a wall: “Fans can make you famous, a contract can make you rich, the press can make you a superstar, but only luv can make you a player.” The video takes on a unique high school football fantasy theme and obviously doubles as a promotion for Madonna's upcoming Super Bowl half time performance.
Nicki Minaj and M.I.A kick off the video with a little Madonna cheer: "L-U-V Madonna. Y-O-U you wanna" while sitting atop the shoulders of some creepy looking doll-faced cheerleaders and sporting a varsity jacket (M.I.A) and a cheerleader-like dress (Minaj). Madonna then makes her grand entrance, busting down a pink door to a house and strutting out with a stroller, which she quickly abandons.
Soon it gets weird: Madonna walks alone down a dark street, and a car pulls alongside with a Tommy Gun emerging attempting a drive by on her. The football players jump in front of her and take the bullets on her behalf and she struts on. Oh and keep your eyes peeled for her subtle little breast feeding dance too.
After being lifted into an apartment window, Madonna is transformed into the late ’80s, early ’90s version of herself: cropped blonde curls, white lace, red lipstick and her signature mole. Minaj, in a matching wardrobe, begins her verse and drops a quick rhyme for us.
The video comes to a close with one of the creepy zombie-like cheerleaders taking a bat to the head of one of the football players knocking his helmet away, and Madonna ripping the helmet off of another. heads are replaced with a spewing fireworks display coming from the football player's headless torsos. The final scene is a cheerfull Madonna doing a little spin with a baby doll - which she tosses off-screen....and curtain - neon lights read "Touchdown!"
The video is eccentric, amusing and at times baffling, but it somehow seems to work.
