Entertainment Weekly is reporting that after viewing the pilot episode, NBC has decided not to air "Wonder Woman".  The David E. Kelley produced series would have reimagined Wonder Woman as a Corporate CEO by day and crime-fighting amazon by night.

Trouble started for the series when early pictures of the costume were released to negative reviews.  Many comic purist felt the new costume design played down the patriotic theme of the original in favor of an emphasis on the Greek mythology of Wonder Woman's heritage.  The costume was redisigned, but wasn't enough to win over the die hard fans.

NBC has yet to comment on the reason for passing on the new series, but rumors are that the decision was made after mixed reviews of the pilot.  Some criticisms included the use of several costumes throughout a single episode (including one that looked exactly like the one worn by Linda Carter in the original series), star Adrianne Palicki playing CEO Diana Prince as well as her secretary, and Wonder Woman singing along to current hits on the radio several times during the episode.  There were also reports that NBC wasn't keen on David E. Kelley's request that the premiere episode be commerical free.

No word at this time if Kelley and Warner Bros. will shop the pilot around to other networks or if the pilot episode will be made public.  Several fans had hoped this series would have been on CW as a replacement for "Smallville", which ends its 10-year-run tonight.
