The wind was whipping once again this Sunday afternoon as several thousand fans poured into Memorial Stadium to see their Wichita Falls Nighthawks take on the Cooke County Bandits in their second home game of their inaugural season. This time around Tim Tebow was not on hand to cheer on the now 3-0 Nighthawks, but that did not stop the great people of Wichita Falls to come out and support their young minor league football franchise.

Former Heisman Trophy winners aside, there was still a ton of excitement as the Nighthawks dominated from the opening kick-off. Outside linebacker Devin Gonzalez was all over the field during the Bandits opening drive, which, thanks to great defense and a little help from mother nature, ended in a 0 yard punt,  and gave the Nighthawks great field position for their first drive. That first drive ended with a Nighthawks touchdown in the form of a Justin Johnson scamper into the endzone. Good field position and an excellent running game continued early on in the game as Johnson had three touchdowns in the first 10 minutes of the game!

As if the dominating performance on the gridiron wasn't enough to whip Nighthawks Nation into a frenzy, there was also the much anticipated raffle of a custom made 2013 Dodge Challenger that was given away at halftime. Everybody that bought a ticket to Sunday's game received a raffle ticket and 20 lucky fans had their ticket numbers read and were given the chance to drive home in the Challenger. After a long and suspenseful wait as the 20 finalists attempted to unlock the Challenger's door with their key one lucky fan discovered he was the lucky fan that got to drive home one awesome example of American engineering and ingenuity richer.

After all was said and done, the Bandits proved no match for the Nighthawks in yet another dominating performance. The Nighthawks hit the road once again but will be back in the Falls on March 24th as they take on the Dallas Trojans at Memorial Stadium. I for one can not wait to see some more intense Nighthawks football action, not to mention get the chance to meet NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback and Notre Dame Alum Joe Montana!

I will see you there!
