With Independence Day coming up this Saturday, many people want to celebrate with fireworks. The City of Wichita Falls Public Information Officer, Barry Levy, recently issued this press release explaining where and when fireworks are legal in the city. Though setting off fireworks is illegal in city limits and punishable by fines, they want to remind everyone to enjoy the free fireworks show at Freedom Fest. Here's the press release:

Fireworks Illegal in City Limits-Celebrate at Freedom Fest

Wichita Falls, Texas- With the 4th of July approaching, City leaders would like to remind the public that it is illegal to possess or discharge fireworks inside the city limits of Wichita Falls. Doing so is punishable by a fine of up to $2000.00. This ordinance is in place to help protect individuals from potential injury and property from damage caused by the use of fireworks. To further remind citizens the City’s Traffic Engineering Division has put in place 26 warning signs at various access points into the City limits. These signs read: “Possession and Discharge of Fireworks Prohibited Fines up to $2000.”
