Starting Friday (11.01.19) people with the need for speed will feel a little more at home in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma legislature signed House Bill 1071 back in April and it goes into effect this Friday. This means that several of the 75 mph speed limits on turnpikes outside city limits can be raised to 80 mph. Other roads may be increased from 70 to 75.

Oklahoma authorities say that the increases will be phased in gradually, sensibly and safely.

So watch for those speed limit signs to change and get ready for quicker trips across the Sooner state.
