Just saw a link on Facebook to a news story about how the water/drought situation here is getting worse and worse. We’re already in a water “emergency, but we’re now precariously close to being in what City categorizes as a water “disaster.”
The City of Wichita Falls is scheduled to go into Stage 3 Drought Emergency on Tuesday, February 5th. A stage 3 drought emergency is declared when the combined storage level of lakes Kickapoo and Arrowhead drops to 40% of the total conservation pool storage capacity...
So, fellow, Wichitans, it looks likes we need to implement some big-time water conservation! City leaders met today to discuss the conditions we've undergone the last few months and it looks like Drought Watch 2011 will be upon us sooner than we'd like to believe. Here's the official statement from the City:
I've lived in Wichita Falls for over 10 years and I've never experienced an actual drought. So when I received the following email from The City about possible drought conditions, I immediately started thinking about how I'd be able to survive if a conservation plan was put in place.
