Now that Upfronts 2015 have entered the scheduling phase, we thought most of the major renewals, cancellations and pickups had delivered their biggest surprises. Not so apparently, as FOX has decided to put American Idol out to pasture after 15 seasons, ending the reality singing competition for good next year.

Well, it’s official. Randy Jackson will not be returning as a judge on ‘American Idol,’ but he will remain as a “mentor” for the show.

Now that Steven Tyler has officially bailed on ‘American Idol‘ and Jennifer Lopez has followed suit, that’s two Chairs of Judgment that need to be filled. Or is it three? Sources close to the show say Randy Jackson, the only original ‘Idol’ panelist left, is packing up his iffy fashion sense and hitting the door, too.
