In a surprise move today, TBS announced that they would not be renewing "Lopez Tonight" for a third season.  Even more surprising, the cancellation is effective immediately, with tomorrow's episode being the last.

"TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight.  We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer."

TBS also said,

"TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his hard work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air."

Though popular, "Lopez Tonight" has never been the ratings earner that TBS hoped it would be.  But Lopez proved to be a team player by accepting a time-shift, moving his show back to midnight to allow Conan O'Brien the 11pm slot (a move that Conan himself refused to do for Jay Leno).
Not the best few months for Lopez, who last month announced his separation from his wife of 17 years.  However, things are already looking up for Lopez who recently on his Twitter account that he has another sitcom in the works.  Lopez's last guests are scheduled to be Raven-Symone and comedian Auggie Smith.
